Sandbreaking | Mustang Island Conference Center
The Episcopal Diocese was expanding their Mustang Island Conference Center located between Padre Island and Port Aransas and I was approached to help them document the momentous “Sandbreaking” ceremony with some casual event photography. It was a gorgeous, cool, south Texas spring day on the beach which made for wonderful photos. Since we were only about a year from the start of the pandemic (and the vaccine had just been released) it became quite a challenge to capture the joyous emotions during this groundbreaking event due to many of the masks worn.
Outdoor events (especially along the coast) pose a few challenges for event photographers, but having the experience of photographing many beach weddings, this event photography was a walk in the dunes.
