Citgo / Hooks First Pitch
11th Floor Studios reached out to me about a corporate event that needed photography and, naturally curious, I was down. Corporate event photography covers such a wide range of situations, and I’ve seen just about every situation out there. This was my first corporate event to photograph during a baseball game at Whataburger Field (as well as my first “First Pitch” to capture), so, naturally, I was excited. In the past, I’ve been throughout the ballpark before games and during the off season - I’ve also photographed the last several years of the American Heart Association Corpus Christi’s Heartwalk.
For this event, the Citgo Cotton Club was our main event area along with the on-field pitch. When the time was right, we were escorted down to the field and what was probably 10 minutes felt only like 30 seconds from the time we got onto the field until the pitch was over and we were headed back to the Cotton Club. I was rockin’ my 50 & 16-35 down on the field for simplicity because I knew I only had a few moments to capture that first pitch.
Back in the suite things took a much more leisurely approach and, ultimately, like most corporate event photography, the goal was to capture the essence of feeling throughout the room - big smiles, photos of everyone, candid shots of people being themselves. While I enjoy photographing real estate around the Corpus Christi area, anytime I get a chance to jump back into event photography I take the chance. Capturing candid emotions on film is how it all started back in 1995…
