Grand Opening | Sew Bonita v.1
Our longtime friend, Elena Flores (who is the mastermind behind Sew Bonita) and her husband Gerald Flores (Taco Gear / Tuxedo Goose Films) recently opened a retail location for her handmade products as well as other gifts, trinkets, and Mexican cultura. Elena was such a driving force in supporting local creators and makers, starting years ago with her Small Business Saturday popup “Loca for Local” which morphed into a twice a year event. When the pandemic struck, she and her husband Gerald took everything virtual, providing a method for those same local crafts artisans to reach people through a drive through merchandise pickup while keeping social distancing in mind.
Flash forward to the second year of the pandemic and Elena has jumped into retail, continuing to serve many of the same Loca for Local vendors as well as new ones through her weekend-only hours to sell cositas and talk chisme.
As a friend, I decided to bring my camera along to her grand opening event and get a few shots to commemorate such an awesome accomplishment for Elena and Gerald.
