When The Bend Magazine sent me to photograph this Rockport, Texas home I wasn’t expecting to see a home straight out of the southwest with Spanish touches throughout. Western patterns, woven baskets, shades of orange and beige, and rustic wooden accents complement the smooth, adobe-like fireplace and niches throughout the living area. Even with the southwest motif throughout, large five-light French doors let Live Oak-diffused light in. Bahama-style interior shades dampen direct sunlight from ceiling-high windows to give a little structure to an otherwise well-lit room. In the bedrooms, oversize wood ceiling beams and large stained-wood plantation shutters provide plenty of coziness.
